This bilingual children's book, Searching For My Story / En Busca De Mi Historia , was written in both English and Spanish by a magical Purpecha, Mexican, and American doll, Alejandra Iturbide Tilden (with a bit of help from her adopted mother, Mago - Margaret Tilden). Alejandra and Mago live happily on a boat in California, but Alejandra longs to know more of her story and where she comes from. This is the mostly true story of their return to Mexico in search of Alejandra's birth mother, the woman who made her. Read the story to find out what is feels like to be a doll who can talk and walk, laugh and sing, and worry like a real person, but who is still tiny and looks like a regular cloth doll. This story will appeal to children and adults of all ages, especially those who sometimes feel they are different and don't quite fit in, or who are adopted themselves and have felt the need to find out more about who they are and where they came from. Alejandra's adventure, as she flies for the first time, and returns to Patzcuaro, Michoacan where she was born and lived for her first years, visits friends, meets new people and animals, and searches for her birth mother, is illustrated by delightful, real life photographs taken by Mago.
